Understanding the Brain (Memory)

The Brain keeps decisions, corrections, task history and source-backed context available across sessions. It can answer what changed, what was attempted, what failed, what policy applies and where the supporting file or receipt lives.

Every normal agent question enters one governed front door. The Brain combines word matches, meaning, relationships, recent work, receipts and structural file evidence, removes duplicates, checks authority and returns grounded results. GRIFF-Map helps locate filenames and paths but does not override memory or policy.

GPU acceleration is used where it materially helps: creating embeddings, maintaining semantic relationships and reranking the best candidates. It is normal for the model to remain in memory after work finishes. Low Task Manager GPU percentage does not mean the path used CPU; the platform records the actual device and uses short bursts rather than keeping the GPU artificially busy.

Healthy status is based on live readiness and proof gates, not a frozen memory count. The Brain does not expose secret values, does not let structural search mint authority, and does not silently switch a required large GPU maintenance job to CPU.
